David Cook was born and raised in Mansfield, Texas. To David, Mansfield means family and holds many memories so it was only fitting for him to run for Mayor in 2008. He was elected and continues to serve as Mayor of Mansfield to this day. David attended Stephen F. Austin where he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration in 1992. After graduation, he returned to Mansfield to attend Texas Wesleyan University School of Law. David received his Juris Doctor in 1996. During his studies, he became a Law Clerk and Legislative Aide for Senator Chris Harris. Following his graduation from law school, he became an associate attorney for Senator Chris Harris. In 2004, David and Chris partnered to form Harris Cook, LLP. David is now the Managing Partner and has expanded the practice to three locations.
Tonya Cook is a school counselor for Mansfield Independent School District. She completed her undergraduate at the University of North Texas with a major in Sociology and a minor in Behavioral Psychology. She continued her studies at Dallas Baptist University, where she earned her Masters of Education School Counseling. When Tonya is not guiding her students, she is active in her community. She and David founded Andersen, Cook & Harris Christmas Project. In addition to running the Christmas Project, she is also involved in Mansfield Cares, Salvation Army and various other organizations and committees.
Tonya and David attend Walnut Ridge Baptist Church where they both serve in the Preschool Ministry. They have four children: Stefan, Blake, Cecilee and Christian. Stefan and Blake have graduated college and recently married; Cecilee is in her third year at Texas A&M University and Christian is in his first year at the University of Oklahoma. David and Tonya have two Australian Shepherds, Sophie and Phoebe.
